Love using a French Clay mask? Here are a few ideas to make them even better.
1. Start with a Cleanse
If you want your mask to really penetrate the skin and leave it feeling fresh and hydrated, make sure you wash your face first.
Even if you're not wearing make-up, be sure to wash your skin with a gentle cleanser and warm (not hot) water.
Cleanse, rinse, pat dry and THEN apply your mask.
2. Add Some Honey
While we love using our French Clay masks as they are with a few drops of water, if you're looking to take it up a notch try adding in a little bit of honey too.
Try 1 heaped teaspoon of clay, 1 teaspoon of water and 1 teaspoon of honey, mix it all together to form a paste and apply to your face. Leave on for 15 minutes and rinse with warm water. It's a real game changer.
We recommend using a fair trade/sustainably sourced honey to ensure that the product you are using has been sourced in a more ethical and sustainable way. And, of course, if you choose to not use honey, simply skip this one.
3. Use the Correct Mask for Your Skin Type
For acne prone or oily skin, try our Green French Clay mask to help soak up excess oil that may clog pores
For dry skin, our Pink French Clay mask is super hydrating. Try tip #2 above and add in some honey
For those with sensitive skin, our White French Clay mask is perfect as it's gentle and helps retain your skins natural moisture
4. Remember to Moisturise
Even when you are using a moisturising mask, after rinsing it off you should always apply a moisturiser to help leave your skin feeling even softer.
After you've applied your mask your skin is primed for soaking in products, so don't miss the opportunity to help add even more moisture into the mix.
5. Don't Go Overboard
While our face masks are gentle and moisturising, you can have too much of a good thing.
We recommend only leaving your mask on for 15 - 20 minutes (or until dry) and using no more than 2-3 times a week. Using it more than this can actually leave your skin feeling dry and dull - the opposite effect they are intended for.
Remember, your skin is unique to you and what works for one person might not work for you. So test it out and find your sweet spot.
